Security footage from the FreshMart on Main Street shows the small black-and-white cat slipping through the automatic doors just after 3:00 p.m. The cat made a beeline for the seafood counter, where it calmly leapt onto the display, grabbed a mackerel nearly its own size, and dashed out of the store to the stunned silence of onlooking customers.
Store manager Linda Parks says the staff was too surprised to react.

Witnesses say the cat appeared well-fed and confident, suggesting it may not have been its first offense.
Footage of the incident quickly spread on social media, with hashtags like #FishHeistCat and #SupermarketSneak trending by evening. One user joked, “Ocean’s 1 — starring Whiskers Clooney.”
No charges will be pressed, and the supermarket has embraced the incident, announcing a limited-time “Cat Burglar Fish Special” — 10% off all mackerel.
Local animal shelters are now keeping an eye out in case the cat is a stray. But if social media is any indicator, the town may already have a new unofficial mascot.
