A man who launched a vicious attack on two female police officers at Manchester Airport has been found guilty – and the shocking footage has left people furious.
20-year-old Mohammed Fahir Amaaz sparked chaos in Terminal 2 after headbutting a random bloke in Starbucks before going on to fight with police who tried to arrest him.
During the violent struggle, Amaaz threw punches, elbowed officers, and even left PC Lydia Ward unconscious with a broken nose. Her colleague, PC Ellie Cook, was also taken down after being struck multiple times.
CCTV from the airport shows the horrifying moment the officers were overwhelmed, as Amaaz’s wild attack unfolded in front of stunned travellers.
A jury at Liverpool Crown Court found him guilty of assaulting both officers and the Starbucks victim. However, they couldn’t agree on whether he also assaulted a third officer – with a retrial set for April next year.
Greater Manchester Police called it a “high level of violence”, saying they’re sick of seeing officers assaulted, especially when “44 cops are attacked every single week.”
The case has caused outrage, especially after protests earlier this year when footage of the arrest went viral. But with Amaaz now convicted and facing serious jail time, police say it’s “justice served.”
