In a recently surfaced video, a confrontation between a police officer and a man identified as Bryce escalated quickly, resulting in the use of a Taser for an extended period of time.
The video shows tensions rising as Bryce questions the officer repeatedly, asking, “Am I under arrest?” and stating, “I don’t play the game.” The situation appears increasingly volatile, with physical contact between Bryce and the officer becoming intense. As the exchange escalates, the officer orders Bryce out of the vehicle.
When Bryce does not comply immediately, the officer deploys a Taser. The footage and audio indicate the electric current was active for approximately 23 seconds. This is significantly longer than the recommended Taser cycle duration of 5 seconds as advised by many U.S. police departments.
After the Taser was discharged, Bryce fell to the ground and was placed in handcuffs. The officer then dragged him to a nearby greenbelt area and laid him face down before beginning to search him.
Unbeknownst to the officer at the time, Bryce had reportedly gone into cardiac arrest, believed to have been caused by the extended duration of the electric shock.
During the incident, the officer was heard saying, “You don’t like to follow the rules, right?”—a comment that may be interpreted as suggesting Bryce was responsible for the outcome of the encounter.
The use of force in this incident, particularly the extended Taser deployment, has prompted concern and could lead to further investigation into whether proper protocol was followed.
