The death of Logan Federico became one of the most widely discussed crime cases in South Carolina after the 22-year-old was fatally shot during a home invasion while visiting friends in Columbia, South Carolina. According to investigators, Logan Federico traveled from Waxhaw, North Carolina, to Columbia in early May 2025 to spend time with friends. During the early morning hours of May 3, authorities say a man later identified as Alexander Dickey entered a home on Cypress Street in the Old Shandon neighborhood. Police believe Dickey had already committed several burglaries in the area before entering the unlocked residence where Logan was staying.
Investigators stated that Dickey allegedly stole items including wallets, credit cards, and a firearm before confronting Federico inside the home. She was shot in the chest and died at the scene.
