A fearless grandmother is going viral after being filmed hand-feeding a massive black bear from her backyard—without even flinching.
Locals in the small town of Asheville, North Carolina say 79-year-old Doris Thompson has “always been tough,” but no one expected to see her casually offering fruit slices to a bear like it was her grandkid.
“He comes by every few days,” Doris told reporters. “He’s polite. Doesn’t growl or nothin’. Just sits and waits his turn.”
The video, posted by her grandson, has racked up millions of views—some viewers amazed, others horrified. Wildlife experts have strongly discouraged the behavior, warning it puts both humans and animals at risk.
Still, Doris isn’t fazed. “I raised six boys. You think a bear scares me?”
