A peaceful afternoon in a Florida neighborhood took a wild turn on Tuesday when a skydiver made an unexpected landing — right into a residential driveway.
The bizarre incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. in a quiet suburban area of Cape Coral. According to eyewitnesses, the skydiver appeared to veer off course during a descent and narrowly missed several rooftops before landing directly in the driveway of the Johnson family home on Bayshore Avenue.
“I was just pulling into the garage when I saw a guy floating down right in front of me,” said homeowner Rachel Johnson. “He touched down like it was completely normal — then gave me a thumbs up.”
The skydiver, identified as 27-year-old Daniel Meyers, was participating in a solo jump from a nearby recreational skydiving center. According to Meyers, unexpected wind gusts forced him off his intended course.
“I’ve done over 200 jumps and never landed in someone’s driveway,” Meyers told reporters with a laugh. “I’m just glad I didn’t end up on the roof.”
No injuries were reported, and the landing — though unconventional — was safely executed. The skydiving company, FreeFall Adventures, confirmed that all safety protocols were followed and praised Meyers for his calm response and skilled handling of the situation.
Local authorities briefly arrived at the scene to ensure public safety and confirmed no property was damaged.
The incident quickly went viral after Rachel Johnson posted a video clip from her doorbell camera, captioned: “When the skydiver chooses the driveway… 😳🪂” — racking up thousands of views on social media within hours.
Despite the surprise, the Johnson family says they have no hard feelings.
“He was polite, he landed like a pro, and now I have the craziest story of the week,” said Rachel, laughing.
