Tampa, FL — A Dollar General employee was taken into custody after admitting to committing fraudulent refunds totaling $655, authorities confirmed. The arrest followed an internal investigation by the store’s loss prevention team.
According to reports and bodycam audio from the scene, the employee voluntarily admitted to the misconduct and provided a written statement detailing the fraudulent activity. Loss Prevention (LP) management, along with video documentation, supported the allegation.
The incident came to light when the employee acknowledged the actions to store management. The LP manager promptly contacted local law enforcement, who arrived on the scene to process the matter.
“We have all the documentation and video evidence,” said the LP manager, who noted that the employee had confessed and signed a statement. “Dollar General wishes to press charges.”
Deputies conducted a brief on-site interview and confirmed the employee’s understanding of the legal implications, including the meaning of perjury, before moving forward with the arrest.
No further details regarding the employee’s identity or future court proceedings have been released. Dollar General emphasized that they take incidents of internal fraud seriously and work closely with law enforcement to address such violations.
