A video shows a police officer punching a woman in the face after she spat at him. The footage is disturbing.
In May, police received a report of a disoriented woman wandering into traffic. When officers arrived, they tried to persuade her to move to safety, but she continued to resist. The police then placed her under protective custody.
The woman was later identified as 59-year-old Angelia Hall. Upon arrival at the hospital, Hall reportedly began shouting profanities at both doctors and police officers, and at one point, she spat at a doctor. Officers warned her to stop behaving that way, which led to the confrontation seen at the beginning of the video.
During the subsequent investigation, the police chief confirmed that the officer acted inappropriately and has since been dismissed from the force. Meanwhile, Hall was charged with assault for spitting at the officer.
I want to report that I was punched by a police officer while my hands were restrained. I couldn’t defend myself — a police officer hit me in the face, and I was unable to fight back.
