Police in New Mexico made a stomach-turning discovery after pulling over a swerving pickup truck: a drunk driver, his fly unzipped, and six kids crammed in the back.
42-year-old Jeremy Guthrie was stopped after driving erratically. When cops approached, they saw him struggling to focus, slurring his words, and bizarrely insisting the kids were “just my friends.”
One girl looked clearly underage, but Guthrie tried claiming she was “18?” – only for the officer to bluntly reply: “That girl’s not 18.”
🍾 What cops found
Inside the cab? Open bottles of tequila and Fireball whiskey. Guthrie bombed every sobriety test—barely able to walk straight or recite the alphabet.
And then, officers noticed it: his pants were unzipped.
🧍♀️ The horrifying twist
The case got darker fast. Investigators later learned Guthrie had been sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl and her twin sister for over a year.
One of the girls became pregnant and suffered a miscarriage. Detectives also uncovered explicit texts linking Guthrie to the abuse.
⚖️ The outcome
Originally booked for DUI and child endangerment, Guthrie’s charges exploded to include rape, false imprisonment, and multiple counts of sexual contact with a minor.
In August 2024, he was sentenced to 36 years in prison.
💬 The reaction
The victims’ grandmother didn’t hold back:
“It makes me sick. I’m livid about what he did to my granddaughters. He’s a very, very sick person.”
Even officers seemed stunned. One trooper can be heard saying:
“You’ve got your fly down and six kids in the car. What the hell are you doing?”
