Bundi, Rajasthan — July 17, 2025:
In a remarkable act of courage, a local shepherd saved one of his sheep from a cobra attack in a remote village near Bundi district on Tuesday afternoon.
Arjun Meena, 38, was tending to his flock near a forested area when he heard frantic bleating from one of the younger lambs. Rushing to the scene, he found a venomous Indian cobra coiled and ready to strike the frightened animal.
Acting swiftly, Arjun used his wooden staff to divert the snake’s attention, positioning himself between the cobra and the lamb. He managed to guide the lamb to safety before carefully using a long stick to drive the snake away without harming it.
“I didn’t have time to think. I just knew I had to protect the lamb,” Arjun told local reporters. “These animals are like family to me.”
Villagers hailed Arjun as a hero for his bravery and quick thinking. Wildlife officials later visited the area and advised residents to remain alert, as the region has seen an increase in snake sightings due to the monsoon season.
No injuries were reported, and the snake was believed to have returned safely into the forest.
