In a disturbing discovery just days before Halloween, police officers in Kentucky stumbled upon a gruesome scene inside a residential garage — a decapitated young woman. Newly released bodycam footage captures the chaotic moments officers confronted those inside the home.
A Routine Check Turns Horrific
When police arrived at the home, they encountered 20-year-old Kiara McCulley, who appeared calm but confused. Officers learned that McCulley lived in the residence with her mother and 25-year-old ex-fiancé, Isaac Apodaca. As officers began to piece together the relationships, one asked, “Who’s Isaac’s girlfriend?” — to which McCulley’s mother responded, “She is. This is my daughter.”
Moments later, officers informed the visibly shaken family that the residence was now an active crime scene.
“There’s a deceased person in your garage,” one officer stated.
“There’s a body in there?” McCulley’s mother asked in disbelief.
Isaac’s Calm Confession
While McCulley was escorted outside barefoot and detained, officers located Apodaca across the street. He had reportedly been the one to call 911 after his mother initially reported the horrifying discovery.
Apodaca calmly explained to officers,
“I walked into the garage, and she goes, ‘Oh, I just did it.’”
He identified “she” as Kiara McCulley and described her as eerily composed, with blood on her hands.
“I Just Did It” — The Confession That Chilled Investigators
According to the footage, Apodaca told police that upon entering the garage, he saw the lifeless body and realized something unimaginable had taken place. “I didn’t touch them,” he said, trembling. “It was too traumatic. I’m freaking out.”
Investigators detained both McCulley and Apodaca as they processed the grisly scene. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin, but the case has since drawn national attention for its shocking brutality — and its eerie timing, unfolding just before Halloween.
Developing Story
Police continue to investigate the motive behind the killing, while forensic teams comb through evidence from the residence. The haunting bodycam footage serves as a chilling reminder of how real-life horror can strike closer to Halloween than anyone expects.
