In a troubling incident that has sparked concern and praise for the child’s quick thinking, local deputies responded to a 911 call made by a young boy who reported that his father was allegedly driving under the influence.
According to the sheriff’s office, the call came in during the afternoon hours, with the child sounding frightened but composed as he explained that his father had been consuming alcohol before getting behind the wheel. The boy provided dispatchers with the vehicle’s description, location, and direction of travel.
Deputies were immediately dispatched to intercept the vehicle. Authorities say they located the car within minutes, pulling it over safely without incident. The father was detained at the scene while officers conducted field sobriety tests.
“The bravery and clarity shown by this child likely prevented a dangerous situation from turning tragic,” said a department spokesperson. “We encourage everyone — even our youngest residents — to call 911 if they believe they or others are in danger.”
