In a quiet mountain town in British Columbia, a grandmother known affectionately as “Nana Jean” shocked neighbors and went viral after a video surfaced of her calmly feeding a full-grown black bear from her back porch.
The 82-year-old says the bear, whom she calls “Benny,” has been visiting her for over a year. “He just likes a bit of peanut butter toast in the morning, same as me,” she said.
Wildlife officials, however, have expressed concern, warning that feeding wild animals can be dangerous for both people and bears. Nana Jean insists she’s careful: “Benny has better manners than most people I know.”
The video has sparked a mix of admiration and alarm online—some calling her a “real-life Snow White,” others urging authorities to intervene.
