Genetics apparently favors shorter individuals, as exceptionally tall people are much rarer. But true giants do exist, and one of the most extraordinary is Sultan Kösen, a man officially recognized as the tallest person in the world.

At an incredible 2.51 meters, Sultan holds the world height record. Finding clothes in his size is impossible in regular stores, so he works with a team of dedicated tailors who tailor everything for him.

Fortunately, doctors were able to stop his growth, for which Sultan is incredibly grateful. Life at that height presents serious challenges, from navigating cities not designed for people of that size to needing support for walking. Today, he relies on specially designed canes to get around more comfortably.

Despite his fame, Sultan leads a humble life as a farmer. His extraordinary height actually helps him: picking fruit from tall trees and managing large fields is easier for him than for most people. Although he is world-famous and could have pursued a career in showbiz, he prefers a quiet life close to the land.

Sultan has also found love. He’s been married for several years to Merve Dibo, a woman almost ten years younger and about half his height. Their height difference hasn’t hindered their bond; in fact, it’s proof of the old adage that opposites attract.
