The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 22-year-old Jermaine Martin. He was struck and killed by a vehicle in the 5400 block of South Kedzie just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
According to police, Martin was in a crosswalk when he was struck by the driver of a gray vehicle. The driver of the vehicle disregarded a red light and continued through the intersection, appearing to swerve toward Martin as he tried to avoid the oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the collision.
