Authorities are investigating a deadly home invasion that unfolded in harrowing fashion and was largely captured on surveillance footage inside the residence.
According to investigators, multiple intruders forced their way into the home and demanded money. The footage shows a tense confrontation that quickly escalated. A 39-year-old man, identified by police as Mario Alberto Trejo Estrada, was shot and killed near the entryway of the home.
The violence continued as the intruders turned on the rest of the family. The victims were later identified as 42-year-old Shannon Patricia Young Worth and her 20-year-old son, Jorge Alexander Reyes Young Worth. Two young children were also inside the home at the time of the attack.
Police say the suspects attempted to destroy evidence before fleeing, apparently unaware that much of the crime had already been recorded on camera.
One of the most striking moments, according to investigators, came after the attackers left. Surveillance video shows the older child—still a toddler—pulling his younger sibling away from the scene, instinctively shielding them from what had happened. Investigators described the moment as heartbreaking and deeply impactful.
Officers were dispatched to the home following a 911 call placed by the mother during the attack. When police arrived, they discovered multiple victims and immediately began searching the house for survivors. Body-worn camera footage captures officers carefully locating and removing the two children, guiding them to safety.
The children were not physically injured and are now in protective care, authorities said.
Police continue to investigate the case and are working to identify and locate all individuals involved. Officials say the surveillance footage will play a key role in the ongoing investigation.
