In a clip that’s ignited anger across social media, a police officer’s questionable conduct during a traffic stop was caught on camera — and it’s raising serious questions about abuse of power and procedure.
“Don’t Touch Me!”
The footage begins with a visibly shaken woman standing beside a tow truck after a car accident. The officer approaches her, hands-on, prompting her to recoil.
“Don’t touch me!” she snaps.
“I can search you — and that’s what I’m doing,” the officer replies firmly.
When the woman protests further, he reminds her of the bodycam recording:
“No one’s touching you. There’s a little camera right there.”
Despite that reassurance, the physicality of the encounter — and the tone — immediately unsettled viewers.
A Sobriety Test That Didn’t Add Up
Officers then instruct the woman to perform a field sobriety test, even though she had just been in a car accident and was still wearing sandals.
“Sir, I know she has sandals on,” one officer says.
“Are you okay with the sandals?” another asks.
Ignoring the obvious discomfort, the test begins. The woman — pale, nervous, and trembling — tries to follow every direction exactly: placing one foot in front of the other, imagining a line on the cracked pavement, counting her steps out loud.
The footage shows her trying to comply despite being clearly shaken, while the officer continues issuing rapid, precise commands.
“Stay in That Stance, Please”
Even as she wobbles slightly, the officer maintains a hard tone.
“Stay in that stance. Lift your hands. Look at your toes,” he orders.
Bodycam video captures the woman’s growing distress. Still, she completes the task — nine heel-to-toe steps forward and back — without refusing a single instruction.
At one point, the officer even asks if she has any leg injuries before beginning another test. She says no, but her voice cracks as she answers.
The Internet’s Reaction
The video — originally shared by Police Activity — quickly went viral, with many viewers calling the encounter “unnecessary,” “humiliating,” and “a clear abuse of power.” Others questioned why the officer conducted a sobriety test immediately after an accident rather than ensuring medical attention.
The department has not released a full statement on the incident, but calls for review are mounting.
