A 19-year-old thought itâd be funny to test out his brand-new siren â until real police showed up.
The teen, who works in construction and landscaping, told officers heâd recently ordered a siren online âjust for fun.â
âI was just messing with the sounds,â he told police. âI wasnât trying to impersonate anyone.â
Unfortunately for him, thatâs exactly what it looked like.
Bodycam footage shows the officer shaking his head in disbelief:
âIâm just gonna say it â that was stupid. Youâre 19, I get it, youâve got a life, three jobs, whatever⌠but this is a crime.â
Turns out, using a siren â even if itâs just to âsee how it soundsâ â can land you in serious trouble if it looks or sounds like official emergency equipment.
The officer didnât mince words, reminding the teen that impersonating a police officer is a felony.
Online, people are split â some say it was an innocent mistake, others say heâs lucky he didnât end up in jail.
âBro just wanted to feel like Batman for five minutes,â one commenter joked. âImagine explaining that to your mom,â another added.
