These 12 Kids And A Dog Were Dubbed As The Crime-Busting Heroics

What started as a fun Easter egg hunt in the English countryside turned into a real-life crime-fighting adventure when a group of 12 children and their tiny Yorkshire terrier, Molly, helped police capture two suspected burglars in Surrey. The youngsters, now being called the “Tremendous Twelve,” have become unlikely heroes after their quick thinking led officers directly to the fleeing suspects.

The incredible incident happened near the village of Capel in Surrey during the Easter holidays. The children, ranging in age from just six to twelve years old, had gathered together for an Easter egg hunt in a large open field when they suddenly noticed a police helicopter circling overhead.

At first, the group thought the helicopter was simply flying nearby by coincidence. But moments later, they spotted something unusual — a man sprinting across the field in the distance. According to witnesses, the man appeared nervous and was removing his jumper while running before wrapping it around his head, seemingly trying to hide his identity.

The children quickly realized something serious was happening.

As the helicopter continued circling above them, the group began shouting, waving their arms, and jumping in an attempt to get the pilot’s attention. However, from high in the air, the crew could not understand what the children were trying to communicate.

That’s when two of the youngsters came up with an idea that would soon make headlines across the country.

Thinking fast, they instructed the others to lie down on the grass in the shape of a giant arrow pointing toward the direction the suspect had fled. The children quickly organized themselves, forming the human arrow across the field while Molly the Yorkshire terrier barked excitedly nearby.

Seconds later, the helicopter pilot noticed the unusual formation on the ground.

Realizing the children were trying to signal something important, the crew radioed police officers on the ground and directed them toward the area the arrow was pointing. Officers quickly responded and managed to locate and stop two men nearby.

Police later confirmed that the suspects, aged 27 and 28, were being questioned in connection with a burglary at a nearby farm.

The children were thrilled when they learned their plan had actually worked.

“The police thought we were just playing at first,” one of the kids later explained. “But then they understood what we were doing and followed the arrow. It was amazing.”

Soon after the arrests, Surrey Police released helicopter footage showing the children lying in the field forming the arrow. The clip quickly spread online and attracted attention from people around the world, with thousands praising the children for their intelligence and teamwork.

One parent, Ben Brearley, described the adventure as feeling “like something out of Scooby-Doo or an Enid Blyton story,” adding that the children were excited beyond belief after helping solve a real police operation.

Sergeant Paul Sochon of Surrey Police also praised the youngsters, saying their quick thinking played a major role in helping officers locate the suspects quickly.

The story of the “Tremendous Twelve” has since become a heartwarming reminder that courage and creativity can come from anyone — no matter their age. And alongside the brave children, Molly the little Yorkshire terrier may have earned a hero’s title too.
