A tense exchange inside the Oval Office has exploded into a much bigger controversy after President Donald Trump clashed with CNN reporter Kristen Holmes — and the White House later escalated the confrontation by bringing her children into the dispute.
The dramatic moment unfolded on August 17, when Holmes attempted to question Trump during a White House event. The CNN correspondent pressed the president on several issues, including comments involving one of his aides and questions surrounding U.S. relations with North Korea. Trump quickly became frustrated with the line of questioning.
Instead of simply moving on to another reporter, Trump directly confronted Holmes.
He accused her of being disrespectful, dismissed her as “fake news,” and repeatedly told her to be quiet as she attempted to continue asking questions. Video of the tense Oval Office exchange quickly spread online, reigniting the long-running debate over Trump’s combative relationship with CNN and other major news organizations.
